The Rock’s Team Scoffs At Reports On WWE Future

The WWE Universe is still buzzing from John Cena’s shocking heel turn at Elimination Chamber 2025, and speculation is running wild about his future alongside The Rock. However, recent reports surrounding their partnership have been met with skepticism—especially from The Rock’s camp.

John Cena’s Heel Turn Was Reportedly Moved Up

According to Dave Meltzer, WWE originally planned for Cena to turn heel at WrestleMania 41, mirroring Stone Cold Steve Austin’s 2001 betrayal when he aligned with Vince McMahon to defeat The Rock. However, this timeline was reportedly fast-tracked, leading to Cena’s shocking turn at Elimination Chamber instead.

While this theory gained traction among fans, The Rock’s close associate Brian Gewirtz—a longtime WWE writer and The Rock’s business partner—quickly shut it down, calling it incorrect.

The Rock’s Team Laughs Off “Rock and Soul Connection” Rumor

Another rumor suggested that Cena and The Rock’s partnership could be called the “Rock and Soul Connection,” a play on The Rock 'n' Sock Connection from the Attitude Era. Once again, Gewirtz took to social media to mock the speculation, stating:

"Your sources are drunk."

His reaction made it clear that no such name is in play, adding more mystery to WWE’s long-term plans for The Rock and John Cena’s shocking alliance.

When Will The Rock & John Cena Return?

John Cena is set to return on March 17th on WWE Raw in Brussels, Belgium, and Cody Rhodes is also confirmed for the show. Meanwhile, The Rock—now referring to himself as “The Final Boss”—is expected to make his presence felt at WrestleMania 41, but WWE has yet to confirm his exact role.

With Cena now playing the villainous role alongside The Rock, the road to WrestleMania 41 just got even more unpredictable.
